Relationship between Knowledge Management Activities and Export Performance of SMEs Exporting Technical and Engineering Service

Abstract

Regarding rapid changes and complexities of business environment, knowledge has become the key source and main property for achieving competitive advantage. Furthermore, knowledge management and learning processes has become an important factor for success in international markets. The aim of this study is to assess the relationship between knowledge management practices and export performance with respect to dynamic capabilities of knowledge management and innovative performance in technical exporting companies and engineering services. This is an applied and descriptive research. Research population consists of companies exporting technical and engineering services in Tehran, among which 151 companies were selected through stratified sampling. The hypotheses were tested using structural equation model (SEM) and standard questionnaire were used to gathering information. Also the validity was evaluated through scholar’s opinions, and AVE was used for convergent validity. The reliability of the research measured by Cronbach's Coefficient Alpha. The results show that there is a significant positive relationship between knowledge management practices and export performance of companies. Acquisition and retention of human capital knowledge is considered as the main capital and competitive advantage of companies exporting technical and engineering services, which facilitates their export performance.
