Presenting a model for Implementing Sustainable Manufacturing System in Automotive Plastic Parts Industry: A Hybrid meta-synthesis and Interpretive Structural Modeling Approach

Document Type : Innovation

Authors

Abstract

Environmental, social and economical expectations of stakeholders are increasing. In fulfilling these expectations, Automotive plastic parts producers like other businesses, face many challenges. One of the most important challenges is implementing sustainable manufacturing, which this research is aimed at. In addition, nearly all researches done in this field are conducted in foreign countries. At the First step in this study, sustainability implementation methods are identified from previous studies. Differences between methods were studied and, different methods were synthesized in several steps applying meta-synthesis approach. The method is one of best approaches for synthesizing qualitative researches. Afterwards, using interpretive structural modelling (ISM) suitable method for this industry is pointed out. Review of models and methods proposed by other researchers reveals that almost these methods are suggestions without using any statistical or mathematical techniques for validating these sections of their researches. In this study, we tried to incorporate meta-synthesis and interpretive structural modeling to present an integrated model of sustainable manufacturing practices and stages, which has more validity. The results show that Infrastructure is the base for other factors. In addition to infrastructure, Support, Identification and Redesign are independent factors. Factors such as Performance assessment, revise and reporting are dependent and factors like communication, execution and cooperation are linkage, which in turn, transfer the effects of independent factors to dependent factors.
