Design System Dynamics Model of Drug Supply Chain Resilience: A Case Study on Barakat Pharmaceutical Company

Abstract

Since Iran is under sanctions for political and economic reasons and instability caused by them, high uncertainty is caused by many modern drug supply chain network parameters. Hence, this study is an attempt to present a dynamic model of the resilient drug supply chain system, considering economic, political, and logistical risks. The model presentation process in this research is done in three stages. Based on the results of a library study on the theoretical foundations and research background, resilience indicators in the supply chain are extracted in the first stage. In the second stage, the resilient model is extracted in the supply chain of the mentioned industry. After performing the necessary analyses, it is modeled, and finally, using a case study, the desired outputs and strategies are obtained. This study shows that to achieve the highest level of chain resilience, the best decision is to implement three investment strategies, human capital development and accelerating the completion of the projects based on prioritization simultaneously.
